My Plan For 2024

My plan to attack 2024 came from a really simple idea:

“How would I train and diet if I had no conventional methods to track progress?”

If I couldn’t weigh or measure myself…

If I couldn’t take progress pictures or look in the mirror…

If I couldn’t test my strength on a max bench, squat or deadlift…

What would I do to be my fittest, most muscular and strongest, if I wasn’t distracted by any of those things?

Weird question, I know, but it’s been an interesting thought experiment for me.

Here’s what I came up with:

1) I would train every day. (Some workouts focused on lifting, some on conditioning and some on both)

2) I would eat a LOT of food, but zero junk or processed food.

3) I would drink nothing but water, black coffee and protein shakes.

4) I would have a consistent sleep schedule and get up early.

Those four would be the only things I would focus on, with 100% intensity and a military level of consistency.

"“Process saves us from the poverty of our intentions.”

That quote, from Elizabeth King (a sculptor), is what got me thinking like this - but what about you?

If you weren’t chasing a number on the scale or tape measure, if you weren’t chasing a certain lift, if you didn’t even know what you looked like…

What process would you trust to make you the best you?

What do you think would happen if you went all in on that process?

Could you surprise yourself with what you were able to achieve when you didn’t have a specific “end” point in mind?

Would you do things differently than you do now?

How would you feel about what you were doing day to day?

Maybe this idea inspires you the same way it did me.

I hope it does.

Either way, it’s going to be a very different year for me.
